Yay, culture. :B
I saw the Edward Scissorhands ballet tonight at the Hummingbird Centre. *__*~ It was so good. :D I think the last ballet I saw was the Nutcracker back when I was 6 or something. So I had no idea if I'd like it or not and I just knew my brother wouldn't. But I liked it, and he was bored out of his mind. XD;

It was really well done though. :D It was interesting too, since afterward, mom called dad to hear how the Leafs did in the hockey game. As SOON as she repeated his answer ("they won?") we just heard this slew of car honks and shouts and yells. Like they were just waiting until we found out or something. (We were right downtown near the ACC so it was kinda crazy even if this technically wasn't a deciding game. XD)

Anyway, I'm dead tired now. Gonna go sit in the family room dropping not-so-subtle hints to dad to turn his music off so I can head to bed.

First, I apologise: this post is seriously going to be ridden with typos because it's 1:15 as I type this.

So...when did I last do an entry on "today I did this and this and this"? Wednesday afternoon? Well, I didn't do anything on Wednesday so let's pretend it doesn't exist.

Thursday )

And Friday. )

Anyway. That's all. I'm going to bed. No--waaaaait.

Abbyyyy. Assuming you had time to read this far before leaving...good luck on your test! Well, first good luck on actually taking it today. THEN good luck on writing it. I think I had something else to say, but it's 2:11 AM now. I haven't gone to bed this late in a while and I'm exhausted. So.

*goes to bed*

Yay, fun.
I got so little sleep last night. x_x; Couldn't sleep until four or so and then was up aroung ten. Blech. So I showered, burned Photoshop for Dean, and then did something else until we left to pick up Alyssa.

Blah blah, we got to the theatre and then eventually Lisa drove by since she was told to meet us at Indigo. @_@ So we ran behind her car to catch up and then Dean arrived too. So we all walked to Alyssa's bank which was a few minutes away and got free lemonade. o_O Then we walked to the EB Games that was right there. I convinced Dean to buy like...5 Final Fantasy games so I could borrow them off. XD I ended up buying Dark Cloud (again!) because mine won't let me go into the Three Sisters' house and I HAVE to go into that house to progress in the game. XD; It was part of a 2 for $20 thing so I ended up getting Splinter Cell too. o_O I've heard it's okay and it was either that or buy FFX-2 again or GTA3. XD; Blah.

After that we went back to Indigo and I swear: I will never, ever touch erotica novels. Because lemon fanfiction is written WAY better and doesn't (as far as I've read) mention farting. Wtf. Just don't ask. Um...then we went back to the theatre and played some DDR and then sat there. Dean and I shared a Coke since he pretty much asked what I'd bought and then asked if he could have some...so whatever. XD I made him buy another one just before we went in for the movie so we continued on that one when we finished mine. But I didn't get to steal his popcorn since he put all sorts of crap on it. ;_;

So yeah. We watched the movie. I had to leave about 5 minutes into it to go call my mom to tell her we were gonna go out to get food afterwards, so that she wouldn't come pick us up right away. Then came back in. Of course, Alyssa and Lisa had to use the washroom then too, so they wandered out and pissed off the people sitting next to us since we all kept leaving so much. Haha, epic win. Movie was still good the second time. :3 It was nice not having dad going "Who's that?" every five minutes.

After the movie, I called my mom to tell her it was done and that we'd be going to a sit-down restaurant and she got mad at me. Apparently she and my brother had been waiting in the area for a while. So I dunno what she didn't understand about my first call. o_O; I ended up calling my dad and getting him to pick us up instead. We went to Montana's and that was fun. I drew Flower Boy on the table and we watched Mara and Lisa play a terrible game of tic-tac-toe...in the sense that both of them decided to be "x"...twice in a row. XD; We also had a fun time figuring out the bill since, well, Lisa was confused as hell when we tried to divvy it up. XD

Finally, we ended up at Indigo again where we walked around and did nothing. xD; When I got home, Bryan and mom were out. They saw Monster House...without me! ;_; So now I have to see it by myself. That or one of you guys has to come see it with me. D: What I might do is just ask if I can see it while we're in the states. Maybe I can watch that the afternoon of the party we're going to New Jersey for instead of being yelled at every 10 minutes to come outside and talk to people I don't really know. (I tend to hole myself up in the house we stay in and watch Cartoon Network, Nick, Disney Channel...whatever's on so that I can stay in the air conditioned interior.) They just got home and my brother apparently bought New Super Mario Bros. DS or whatever while they were out. Plus, I picked the right game from EB Games. He kinda wanted Splinter Cell too, so he'll pay for it with me.

All in all, today was made of fun and win. :D And I'm so ready to just...fall asleep. But I feel like making icons. Or playing Maplestory. Blaaah. ;_; So tired. Gonna bring my laptop downstairs and play Dark Cloud for the first time in almost a year. Hopefully this disc works. ♥~

edit: It worked! I can play Dark Cloud again! However...I have NO idea what's going on or how the game works anymore. Crap. XD;;

"Momotaro is a Canadian story. We’re Canadian, aren’t we? Everything a Canadian does is Canadian."
The title quote is from my CPT novel, Obasan. o_o; It actually captures how I've always felt about culture and heritage and whatnot. I've never thought about my heritage because I know that in the now, I'm Canadian. I live in Canada and everything I do, whether it has roots in other cultures or not, it Canadian too because of that. I'm too tired to explain what I mean, but I really like this book. XD Not only is it pretty thought-provoking (it's based on the internment of Japanese-Canadians in WWII), but it's fun to read because there are Japanese words and phrases scattered through it and I've understood every single one. I'm so proud of myself. XDD;; It really enhances your reading experience when you know exactly what's being said, regardless of whether or not a translation is given. oO;

Anyway...I only started reading it today and by Monday at the earliest (I don't know when my actual CPT conference is) I have to have chapter notes and important quotes for up to chapter 19. (I just finished Chapter 10 now...oo;) So I'm just over halfway done and I'll probably do about two or three more chapters before I call it a night and head to bed. (This is strange and new to me...doing my homework the day before the day it's due...it's weird. XD)

Also, this is really weird. o_o; I don't really need the painkillers anymore since my mouth has more or less stopped hurting (it aches occasionally, but it's tolerable), so I've sort of been...exploring my mouth with my tongue or whatever...it's so weird. x_X; My gums have receeded a bit on the bottom (where they were always just...there. I can't explain this one, but it feels weird XD), and it's especially strange up where the tooth that actually came in was. There's nothing there. It's just empty space. o_O; It's so strange! Also, it's really gross since the gums are still damaged from where they cut them open or whatever, so it has this weird texture and just...yeah. XD;

Oh, my grandpa's coming to visit in April. ^_^; He'll be here for my birthday since dad won't be XD, so that's really good. I felt bad since I barely saw him last year--I skipped out on our annual Saskatoon trip to go to CN Anime so I only saw him twice last year (when he came with Chris in March and then in August when he came to visit his brother before he died @_@). He'll be here from the eleventh to the twenty-fourth, I think. ^_^

Finally (I promise, I'll shut up after this), I've started playing around with my tags. :D There's a list to the right (with a scrollbar so it doesn't span the whole page XD) and I'm gonna be trying the thing Sawah showed, with the imbedded tags. o_O Or whatever.

I even TOLD my brother I'd reserved the computer mostly for the first half of break because after and during that I'd be doing homework and possibly incapacitated because of the wisdom teeth thing. So of course, chances are I won't get the good computer at ALL this week because he fucking sacrifices sleep in order to get on Maplestory. (I swear, I heard the kid up at SEVEN this morning and he went to bed later than I did...and I was asleep around two.) hatehatehate.

He doesn't even sign off when he gets off...he just leaves it open even if he's not doing anything and we can't do anything else because whenever Maplestory is open for a long period of time, it messes with explorer.exe, so we have no taskbar and have to run everything from Task Manager--and even then it usually doesn't work. And I can't restart or he'll yell at me. Just...argh. I really want on right now because I have a bunch of icons made and two of them aren't very good because I have to fix the text--it's too dark. I can't on my laptop though because the screen isn't good enough and it looks fine on it, so I wouldn't know if it was fixed or not and I'm not gonna keep uploading and checking on this computer; that's ridiculous. So now I can't post another batch until like...late tonight when he'll get booted off so mom can check e-mail. x_x; It's so frustrating.

So I've definitely decided I'm NOT getting him MX cash or whatever...the stuff you buy online so you can get special money in the game to buy accessories and stuff that you can't get otherwise. It'll just make him want to play it more. x_x; But I also have no other ideas, so that sucks.

I think we're going out for dinner or something tonight. We were gonna go see a movie too but nothing is on that my brother would watch. >_>;; I want to see Memoirs of a Geisha or Brokeback Mountain but Bryan won't sit through those (and I doubt mom would let him watch the latter XD) and mom doesn't wanna leave him out of seeing something. Just...argh. xX;;

In other news: LOOK. ERICA HAS A HET ICON. :DD And not just one. Two of them. Like omg. :OO (Three if you count the Cless/Mint one, but it's not romantic really; they're just standing there. o_O)

I should also take the time to go through my tags and stuff. o_o;; Some of them are kinda useless so I should reclassify some entries.

Wow...
Holy crap, USB 2.0 is fast. o_O Just finished ripping and translating all the songs from my FFX OST and dude...within a mere 2 minutes all four disks will have transfered to my iPod. That's just...creepy fast. 8D (That normally would have taken like...5-10 minutes. o_O)

Anyway, mom, dad and I went out for lunch today. T'was fun. ^_^ The stupid server forgot our calamari order, though. ;; Oh well. It was still pretty good. (We went to Eastside Mario's. :o) After that, we came home and dad and I were gonna go to take back the memory dad bought since it wasn't working but I went downstairs to play KH and he went to take a nap so we never did. <_<;; We're so productive.

When my brother got home from his friend's birthday party, he had to get my help with Paypal since he was buying that Maplestory cash for his friend. o_o; So before I come up I tell him to get everything ready so all I have to do is put in the information and he says he has. When I get upstairs...he's done nothing. He's just sitting at the page where it asks how much you want to buy. x_x; So I get annoyed at him and then when I click the different things trying to get to the page, he yells at me saying I'm doing it wrong...which is stupid because I know the internet a hell of a lot better than him. I eventually stormed off because I couldn't stand him any longer. (May feel better than yesterday, but that doesn't mean I'm not still moody. >\) Mom came downstairs and made me come back up to help him on the condition he shuts up and leaves me alone. Of course, apparently he can't be trusted to do this so the entire family is sitting there watching me and I dunno. That always bothers me. I eventually figured out why it wasn't working right away the first time, though. Maplestory's site doesn't allow any browser but IE to view it. And someone had installed the Yahoo! toolbar on IE and it blocked popups, which were apparently necessary for this. o_o;; So yeah, got that working and went down to play more KH until Bryan came to watch me...when I went upstairs to avoid him.

I've more or less been on the computer ever since. Internet's been working all day and hasn't booted me once--even with IRC open. :D Also, we figured out what was wrong with the memory. XD It was the wrong type, so I think we're going to exchange it tomorrow and then we'll have 768 megs~ ♥ Hmm, speakers don't work on this computer though.

Anyway, I'm too tired to function properly now (and have been for well over an hour) so I'm going to bed. Before one o'clock. On a Saturday night. o_o;

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

*shrugs* Might as well do that to fill up the entry.

Anyway, I'm at school now and I finished our assignment pretty early. (It was...incredibly easy, so...oo;) Nothing else to do so I'm on here.

Again, I missed the bus this morning because mom was on the computer. I was standing fully ready, just waiting for her, and she calls me over. She asked me how to "save this file on its own" and shows me a folder with two Word documents in it. She wanted one to be saved somewhere else on its own but couldn't figure it out. o_o I was about to tell her to just copy/paste it when she gets it herself from the "Save as" menu option. I had to tell her how to create another folder. So she now has roughly 40-50 of them on the C drive. Each one for ONE file. You open a folder and there's only one thing in it. It's so annoying. o_o; (And don't get me started on the hundreds of recipe folders in My Documents or something.)

So I walk back to the door and wait again. And I'm called back once again. o_o; This time she wants to know how to align her text in a document to the right without getting the green line telling her its grammatically incorrect to put spaces the whole way. (She wanted text directly to the left, too.) I was going to tell her to make a table but opted not to since it'd take another 10 minutes to explain how to do that and I didn't feel like it.

The last thing she needed to do was e-mail it somewhere. I figured she could do this herself so I decided to eat something for breakfast for once, considering I had all this time. Not the case, of course, as I was called in again. She couldn't attach it. She had the attachment window open and to the right folder. She was repeatedly hitting the "Attach" button. But she didn't have the file selected so of course, nothing was happening. ~__~ I think she thought that since she saves everything on its own, it'll open automatically in those situations or something. It's ridiculous.

On the same resume she was playing around with (when trying to make the green line go away), she states that she's "good with computers and Microsoft Word." o_o; She only put that in because she asked me if she'd be allowed to cal me if she ever needed help with the Office programs.

;_; And I thought I was computer illiterate.

Also, Starry Heavens (Japanese GCN Tales of Symphonia opening) doesn't work on my iPod and that's bugging me. DD:

;__; Cramps are back really bad again. I'm scared to tell mom, though, since she might bring me back to the doctor's and, not only am I sick of that place, having been there so much this month, but they've already GIVEN me all my options, bar the one that the one person was scared to tell me about. >_< Or something. Oh well...I'll tough it out for now. @_@ Though, I'm sure some of it has to do with the fact I'm wearing jeans, which are my only not-completely-loose-fitting pants but...I can't find anything else clean. T_T; Kept me up last night, too. *grumbles*

Anyway, today, December 30th, marks my four-year anniversary here in Toronto. o_o; Four years ago at this very moment, I think I was stepping off a plane and complaining loudly about how ugly Toronto was compared to Halifax as we drove through the downtown core on the way to our hotel. Man, I hated it here. XD Glad I moved now, though. ^_^; If we stay here for a few more months after this, which is far more than likely, then we'll have lived here longer than in Halifax. And if we're here another year then...well...it marks the longest I've ever lived in one city (not counting the 2 years I lived in Toronto afer my birth added on to this). o_o

Oddly enough, this is our anniversary of moving here, but it was also my dad's last day with Labatt's. The brewery...is closed now. ._.; So yeah, dad's jobless, though that doesn't worry me because he's got a very generous severence package. He gets his full salary for a year starting now (or possibly just until he finds a new job; I'm not quite clear on that) so there shouldn't be any financial difficulties on this end. Especially with mom in her new job too. I'm just...I dunno. Depressed? Ever since I was born my dad's worked for Labatt's. Almost 20 years at the job. And suddenly...he's just not. ;_;" He did bring home lots of stuff from the brewery that they weren't going to use, though. I've been complaining for a while about not having anywhere to use my laptop on the internet (I wanted wireless, but they wouldn't agree and I also wanted a longer internet cable, but that's not very efficient) so he brought home this neat little rolling desk so I have somewhere to rest it that isn't my lap~ :D

Um...what else...oh! I finally got to play a bit of Fire Emblem today. ^_^; I must say, I am quite impressed overall. I wasn't sure I'd like the fact that it used the exact same battle system as the GBA versions but it works. And the main character is pretty. <3 He's no Kratos or Lloyd but, eh, games like that don't come every Christmas. XD; I'll probably finish FE before moving on to Baten Kaitos. Or at least, that's my plan, anyway.

They shipped my manga, too! It's predicted to arrive sometime during the week of January 23rd. I can't wait~ ♥
